About Us
Island View Shipping, a division of Grindrod Shipping Pte Ltd was founded in 1976 and is the brand name of Grindrod Shipping Holdings Ltd, (a Nasdaq listed entity since 18 June 2018) which has become one of the world’s foremost bulkcarrier owner-operators. With a deadweight (DWT) of 58 to 64 thousand metric tonnes for our supramax/ultramax bulkcarries and 28 to 38 thousand metric tonnes for our handysize vessels on our fleet of owned, long period chartered and spot operated vessels, our vessels can handle volumes of cargo and call at the vast majority of ports around the world. Our modern eco fleet of vessels, is predominantly Japanese built handysize and supramax/ultramax bulkcarriers. In addition, third-party vessels are also commercially managed in the IVS pool. Our teams of specialist operators ensure efficient fleet utilisation and in addition to the global tramping of our fleet (with particular focus on routes into and out of the Indian Ocean), IVS offers a regular handysize/supramax parcel service to the North-West continent, UK and Mediterranean, with sailings from South Africa, Mozambique, East Africa and Namibian ports and return voyages from Europe and South America into the Indian Ocean islands.

The fleet is commercially managed in-house by our experienced chartering and operations teams in Singapore, London, Durban and Tokyo.
Supramax Bulk Carriers
Our fleet of owned and long and short period chartered-in supramax bulk carriers are chartered-out and operated by our supramax chartering operation based in Singapore with branch offices in London, Durban and Tokyo.
